Dr. Byeng Dong Youn has been selected as recipient of 2003 ISSMO/Springer Prize for
Young Scientist.

The Prize is awarded to Dr. Youn for an excellent presentation and outstanding paper
read at ISSMO’s Fifth World Congress of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization
(WCSMO-5) held in Lido di Jesolo, Italy, 2003.

The title of the presentation is “Efficient Evaluation Approaches for Probabilistic
Constraints in Reliability-Based Design Optimization,” that is coauthored with K.K. Choi
and R.-J. Yang.

The Prize was handed over at ceremony during the General Assembly
Meeting at the WCSMO-6 in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil 2005. After Dr. Youn gave a brief
presentation of his winning paper.
